I've been doing a lot of research the past couple of months. I have been interested in nursing school in IL. Now, the are a lot of different school that want a lot. Speaking in terms of pre-reqs, coming across PCCTI in oakbrook IL.
This 12 fast track program would be ideal to most people! Now, not thinking I signed up with a $500 deposit to take an anatomy and physiology class that started in Aug 2012 and is includes all of your books. For the LPN it was the same thing a $500 deposit which include book, uniform and stethoscope. Classes starting in Oct 2012.
However, the second week we had a quiz and the third week we had a test. Every week after was another test, see where I'm going with this. Going back I am in the third week and I receive a letter that all classes have been canceled due to a move. Which concerns me, I'm thinking that this school is either losing their accreditation or got put out of their current office. .
This letter tells us that we will not have any classes for 2 weeks and for those 2 weeks that they have to move. Us as the students have to suffer because they will be added those 2 weeks to the end of our course. So, instead of starting my LPN on Oct 22, 20012 it wouldn't be until the middle of November (as one of the staff explained to me).
In addition, the anatomy class is $1300 and the LPN program is $15000 which both wold be coming out of my pocket because they DON'T have financial aid. I called to discuss my concerns to the staff and was told that I could withdrawal from the class but in other to do so "she needs something in writing" and in other to receive a refund it would take 30 day. Which kinda pissed me off because I didn't take 30 days to pay them $1000!!!
So now I wanted to know who else this has happened to and I come across this nursing website. People are saying do not go to the school it is a waste of time and money. This school will fail you to make more money. To make matters worse the "credits are NOT transferable!!!" So, I believe every word!!!
So it wasn't worth me losing my $1000 of even a portion of that!
Now on the other hand, there are LPN programs out there and I have seen almost all of them in IL. The only down side to these school are they don't have financial aid and this WIA program (last time I checked) was hard to get.
Here my list of school I leave it up to you to decide for yourself.
Good luck and if you have any questions post a comment and I'll be more that happy to answer for you.
